The suspension of in-person activities at Ufes is extended until July 31st

Rector Paulo Vargas, in a decision (ad referendum) during a session of the University Council, extended the suspension of in-person activities at Ufes until July 31st, as a preventive measure against the new coronavirus.

This decision was made considering the Ordinance n. 356/2020 of the Ministry of Health, which defines measures for dealing with the public health emergency of international relevance, caused by the coronavirus (Covid-19); the National Contingency Plan against Human Infection by the new coronavirus, from the Secretariat for Health Surveillance of the Ministry of Health; and the current scenario that indicates an increase in contagion in our state.

According to information from the Covid-19 Panel of the State Government of Espirito Santo, this Monday (29) our state had 45.097 confirmed cases and 1.620 deaths.

Administrative activities will continue to be performed online, as well as projects of research groups, supervision and defense of dissertations and theses, which have been occurring through web-conferencing tools.  

The following activities are still suspended: in-person classes (undergraduate and graduate), classes at the Childcare Center (Criarte); in-person activities of e-learning courses; in-person events (graduations, lectures, seminars, theater plays, movie sessions, etc.); in-person meetings, but virtual meetings are advised; the authorization to travel and the provision of funding to travel for staff members (teaching and administrative) as well as students, in relation to trips abroad and local ones.

According to decision of the University Council, when there is a possibility of return to in-person activities, the academic community will be notified 15 days in advance.

 

Contingency Plan

This Monday (29), one started the work of compilation and organization of suggestions sent by the academic and administrative units for the creation of a Contingency Plan at Ufes.

The organization of data is being carried out by the Work Group (GT) Ufes Covid-19, established by the Rector to assess the performance of measures already adopted by Ufes in relation to the pandemic, and to plan ways to reestablish in-person activities, whenever possible.

In the meantime, the Emergency Operative Committee (COE), established to guide decisions at Ufes based on the epidemic evolution of the disease, will also organize the suggestions sent for the Biosafety Plan.  

The democratic creation of the Contingency and Biosafety Plans is one of the planning activities which is being developed by the university managers in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
